According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number ofjob openings was little changed at 10.9 million as of the last day of Decemberwhile the US unemployment rate has continued to decline over the course of Decemberwith roughly 6.3 million individuals unemployed. However, what this means is that there is arecord 4.6 million more job openings than unemployed workers! This is the highest reading since the databegan being recorded at the beginning of 2001. The largest reason for this divergence is roughly 4.34 million peoplequit during the month of December, the third highest print in serieshistory.
